Oakman Inns update on property development and acquisitions

By James Russell: Oakman Inns update on property development and acquisitions

August 16, 2017

Peter Borg-Neal, CEO Oakman Inns & Restaurants

Oakman Inns are delighted to announce that their 20th site, The Anchor in Hullbridge, opened today. The site was acquired from private vendors in an off-market deal, which is confidential. Peter Borg-Neal commented: “This is a superb pub and a very exciting addition to the Oakman Inns group. We look forward to working closely with the very talented team at The Anchor.”

There has also been considerable progress across the estate:

Work has commenced on their £1.8m development of The Cherry Tree in Olney which is expected to open in Q1 2018.

Planning permission has been gained for the major redevelopment of The Royal Foresters in Ascot. Work on the £5.2m project will begin as soon as some pre-commencement conditions are discharged with the opening expected to be in April 2018.

Following the acquisition of the neigbouring building, work has begun on a £600k project to extend and refurbish their flagship site, The Akeman in Tring.

The site, which is run by Eamonn Borg-Neal (Peter’s son), was the very first Oakman Inn and celebrates its tenth birthday in December.

On completion of this project, Oakman will have refurbished all of their first five sites over a period of two years – The Akeman in Tring, The Old Post Office in Wallingford, The Red Lion in Water End, The Kings Arms in Berkhamsted and The Blue Boar in Witney.

The Betsey Wynne in Swanbourne reopens this Friday 18th August after a £1.3 million development to extend and upgrade the property that Oakman took on eighteen months ago.
