The Q2 report highlights new Manchester opening, increased sales and a rise in operating profit.
Design hotel group Motel One has released its business report for the second quarter of 2017. With a major new UK opening and auspicious award-wins matched by increased sales and occupancy, it has been another strong quarter for the Munich-based brand.
Highlights from the Q2 report include:
- Latest UK opening: Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange opened in July 2017. The 302 room hotel occupies an original building on Cross Street, which retains its historic facade, right in the heart of Manchester’s pedestrian precinct opposite the Royal Exchange Theatre.
- Award win in Scotland: Motel One Edinburgh-Royal has been recognised as City Budget Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Hospitality Awards 2017. This year’s winners were chosen after a twelve-month selection process, and the win reflects Scotland’s steadily growing and emerging hotel industry.
- Sales increased by 6% to EUR 102 million: (previous year EUR 97 million). Operating profit rose by 7% to EUR 23 million (previous year EUR 22 million).
- Motel One receives brand award: In June Motel One received the Brand Innovation of the Year award in Berlin. Chairman of the jury Andrej Kupetz said of the win: “this success is the result of consistent brand management that knows how to combine ambitious architecture and high-quality design, motivated employees and the welfare of guests at a high level.”
The group is delighted to report a rapidly growing portfolio. The development pipeline currently consists of 30 hotels with 9,902 rooms. New contracts signed in the first half of 2017 see locations in Dusseldorf, Hannover, Stuttgart and Milan – the brand’s first hotel in Italy – added to the pipeline.
