More than 120 industry professionals were invited to celebrate summer with Macdonald Hotels at a pop up event showcasing its hotels in London this week. (Monday 10 July).
The UK’s largest independently owned hotel group, which recorded an 11.5% increase in corporate bookings in the past year, showcased its unique MICE offerings from its portfolio of 45 hotels to industry professionals from London and the international inbound markets.
Held at The National Theatre’s The Deck, Macdonald Hotel’s expert events team introduced the buyers to the range of destination hotels, from a sand wedge off the 18th green at the Old Course in St Andrews and the edge of Lake Windermere to the New Forest and the Algarve.
Each hotel has its own character and this summer the Group is offering agents and bookers a range of unique incentives as part of its ‘Hot Deal’ campaign. For instance, Macdonald Compleat Angler, Marlow, is offering delicious Afternoon Teas at its riverside restaurant On The Lawn, conference delegates at Macdonald Forest Hills, in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, can take part in a whisky tasting session, while those attending Macdonald Marine Hotel & Spa, North Berwick, can enjoy a gin drinks reception on the terrace with stunning views across the Firth of Forth.
This year, attendees were also able to find out about the facilities and services available at Macdonald Monchique Resort & Spa, in Portugal. As part of Macdonald Hotels ongoing industry research a growing desire has been seen amongst incentive bookers to focus on spa and wellbeing experiences. The Macdonald Monchique Resort & Spa not only houses five-star spa facilities, it has created a range of detox packages, incorporating yoga and fitness classes, relaxation treatments and specially prepared meals using the very best local ingredients to revitalise the body and mind.
In the past year, the most important factors cited by bookers were access to high quality tech equipment, flexible and creative event spaces and ability to have a single point of contact throughout the booking process, all of which is offered by Macdonald Hotels’ corporate meeting services.
Within the past year, Macdonald Hotels has invested more than £13m in its properties including Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa, which has been fitted with revolutionary ClickShare technology, the Macdonald Forest Hill Hotel & Spa which had a £3.5m revamp to its public areas and bedrooms and the Macdonald Haycock Hotel, which has seen its ballroom undergo a compete transformation.
