By James Russell: Stonegate pour £750,000 into ex JDW Tally Ho

June 2, 2017

Two months after acquiring the iconic Tally Ho pub from JDW, Stonegate Pub Company have reopened the three-floor Finchley property after a further £750,000 investment.

Campaigners wanting to ‘save’ the pub after JDW announced its sale, joined local dignitaries and CAMRA to celebrate Stonegate’s newest flagship and its fifty-three strong workforce, almost double its previous team.

“Finchley has regenerated so time for the 90-year-old Tally Ho to make sure the beautiful landmark offers the diversity to appeal to our varied customer base,” said manager Paul Mulcrone.

Restored back to its original character, contemporary finishes across two floors zone the pub into traditional bar and relaxed dining, whilst the ‘Bolt Hole’ offers a refined upper third floor. For the first time in over twenty years, music and sports across twenty screens, has been reintroduced.

A pub renowned for real ale, the legacy continues with national ales and local brews from New River and Tring. Cask cider and craft beers Blue Moon and Punk IPA join a copious range of gins and wines.

The Tally Ho was one of JDW’s original pubs, first owned by Charrington brewery when it launched ninety years ago.
