All Bar One announces phasing out of plastic straw usage

By James Russell: All Bar One announces phasing out of plastic straw usage

June 14, 2017

All Bar One has announced today that is it pledging to end plastic straw usage across all of its bars nationwide, by kicking off its #strawsuck campaign. As part of the pledge, it is calling on other bars and businesses to get involved and also commit to getting rid of plastic straws.

The #strawsuck campaign will see all plastic straws phased out from All Bar One bars from today. Plastic straws will be either removed totally from drinks or replaced with an environmentally friendly alternative.

The bar brand currently:

  • Serves straws in 25% of its drinks
  • Uses an average of 1,600 straws a week per bar (about 13,000 a day as a brand)
  • Purchases 4.7 million straws a year

It has also created an informative video, to educate its guests on the harmful effects using straws has on the environment, and to encourage them to stop using them.
