Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London is proud to announce the residency of Steve Schneider at GŎNG Bar, the highest hotel bar in Western Europe. Schneider, one of the world’s top bartenders, will serve a selection of signature cocktails at GŎNG Bar alongside Head Bartender Christian Maspes and his team from 1 to 3 June 2017.
Star Bartender nights at GŎNG Bar have become a diary fixture for devotees of fine cocktails. The bar has hosted some of the globe’s most respected bartenders to showcase their creations. They include Joerg Meyer from Le Lion in Hamburg, Zdenek Kastanek from 28 HongKong Street in Singapore, and The Clumsies from Athens who took up residency in March this year. The new cocktail menu ‘Director’s Cut’ at GŎNG Bar, coupled with the star residencies, offers guests an exciting new genre of cocktail entertainment on London’s bar scene.
Fans of modern mixology will recognise Steve Schneider and his fascinating life story from his central role in the cinema documentary Hey Bartender. Tracing his first career as a US Marine, the film shares how Schneider overcame personal tragedy to go on and win global success as a bartender. He established his fame at Employees Only in New York – the classic speakeasy bar which was named 2016 Legends of the List all-time achiever in The World’s 50 Best Bars. For his residency at GŎNG Bar, Schneider has selected five original cocktails to showcase and deliver in his ‘superhero’ fast approach with acute attention to detail.
These include:
Common Sense – Blended malt whisky, Martini Bianco, Averna Amaro, Bitter Truth Chocolate Bitters.
Thunder in Paradise – Bacardi Rum, Coco Lopez, lime juice, oloroso sherry, orgeat.
Ready Fire Aim – Mezcal, honey-pineapple syrup, pineapple juice, lime juice, Hellfire Bitters.
Employees Only EO Gimlet – Plymouth Navy Strength gin, Employees Only house-made lime cordial.
Escalante – Charbay Ruby Red Grapefruit Vodka, Campari, lime juice, grapefruit juice, agave nectar.

Christian and his team will serve their inventive ‘Director’s Cut’ menu which launched in April 2017 together with Steve Schneider’s creations. Fittingly named the ‘Director’s Cut’, the menu is inspired by the greatest film directors of all time and their passion for storytelling. It features a total of 16 cocktails and four mocktails that span five themed categories – Adventure/Fantasy, Romantic/Sci-Fi, Thriller/Drama, Crime/Action and Animation/Superhero.
Located at the pinnacle of Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London, GŎNG Bar is a sky lounge destination crafted by renowned architect Andre Fu of AFSO. The elevated bar provides a vast array of fine wines, spirits, cocktails, champagnes, as well as sweeping views of London’s iconic skyline. It comprises two bars – a cocktail bar and a champagne bar, as well as an infinity Sky Pool Bar which opens daily from 9p.m. GŎNG Bar is open to residents and non-residents Monday to Saturday from noon – until 1a.m. and on Sunday from noon to midnight.
