The Langham, London and the team behind the iconic Artesian are proud to announce the forthcoming opening of “The Wigmore”, located on Regent Street. Taking inspiration from the great British public houses of the past, The Wigmore is slated to open in summer 2017 as a social drinking, eating and meeting place with a luxury accent and a continental feel reflecting the distinct history of the British tavern.
With drinks from the team behind Artesian and food overseen by Michel Roux Jr, expect great wines on tap, cask ales and craft beers, including The Wigmore’s very own house “Saison” brewed in partnership with Bermondsey’s “Brew By Numbers”, together with cups of punch, house “hoptails” and a selection of London classic mixed drinks.
When it comes to food, The Wigmore will offer a menu of hearty British fare with dishes that include a raised veal and ham pie, devilled lamb’s kidneys and paprika-glazed short rib with bone marrow crumb.
The Wigmore is set to become a new social institution with a touch of London polish and a place where everyone is welcome.
The former banking hall has been transformed into a Martin Brudnizki design that evokes the familiarity of this great British institution combined with a touch of luxurious elegance.
As with the neighbouring streets of the area, The Wigmore is named after Robert Harley, Baron of Wigmore of Herefordshire, 1st Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer. Paying homage to Harley’s notable influence on London’s literary past with the Scriblerus Club, his coat of arms feature throughout the tavern’s identity.
With food overseen by Michel Roux Jr, interior design by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and drinks brought together by the team behind Artesian with the help of Gorgeous Group, The Wigmore will be one of the capital’s most talked about Summer openings.
The team at H&C News already have The Wigmore on our summer ‘to do’ list, and will report back on our experience.
