Opening in Battersea this summer, Little Bird, an eclectic bar and restaurant, looks set to become one of the area’s new neighbourhood gems. The elegant venue will put the spice into summer with an array of creative and colourful cocktails alongside Asian-inspired cuisine with a Mediterranean twist.
From acclaimed restaurateur Lorraine Angliss, Little Bird will put its roots down on Battersea Rise, offering a laid-back atmosphere with an off-the-wall décor that perfectly combines different styles. Lorraine is also a talented interior designer and has used her expertise to bring the vibrant space to life.
Little Bird will be the fifth venture in her successful portfolio of West London restaurants, including celebrity favourite, Rock & Rose in Richmond, Annie’s and Little Bird Chiswick. With an impressive 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, all of her projects to date have been success stories, with Rock & Rose regularly attracting high profile guests from Hollywood actors to Ant & Dec, and Annie’s and Little Bird firmly on the map as local hotspots.
The bar’s design will feature bright and striking prints, hanging foliage and large palms, with eye-catching features such as hand-painted wallpaper depicting birds of paradise alongside a myriad of mirrors and original artwork. The front terrace, brimming with lush plants will create a charming oasis in the middle of bustling Battersea, and an open-air courtyard will provide an urban garden retreat for soaking up the sun or whiling away long summer evenings under the stars with friends.
The cocktail menu has been expertly created by one of the world’s most renowned mixologists, Benji Purslow, who is the UK Ambassador for Four Roses Bourbon and has travelled the world extensively, winning the highest bartender accolades. World class drinks aficionado, Benji has combined an array of fresh herbs, spices and tropical botanicals to produce a well-balanced menu full of taste sensations and surprises.
The Asian-fusion menu will be prepared by Head Chef, Ricardo Villar, who has experience in a variety of top restaurants and comes to the project from The Petersham Hotel. Riccardo will receive guidance from critically acclaimed Head Chef Nick Marfe, who has been at the helm of Rock & Rose for the last seven years.
Lorraine’s success spanning three decades as an independent female restaurateur in the extremely male-dominated hospitality industry is a remarkable achievement. She fully immerses herself in every aspect of running her venues, from finding sites and designing them to menu creation, adding her own personal touch and passion to each one.
Lorraine says of the project: “We are delighted to be opening Little Bird in Battersea this summer, our aim is to bring some stylish fun to the area. We look forward to shaking our tailfeathers with you soon!”
