Giggling Squid, the popular and innovative family of Thai restaurants, is pleased to announce its latest opening in Brentwood. Centrally located on the high street, the 100-cover restaurant spread across one floor will offer its signature Thai cuisine in a stylish yet relaxed setting.
The restaurant will serve both lunch time Thai tapas and a separate dinner menu featuring a varied selection of seafood, curries, stir fries, meat dishes, rice and noodles. Families are catered for with the brand new ‘Little Tapas for Little People’ menu, which offers two dishes of smaller versions of Giggling Squid favourites including Pork dumplings and Pad Thai.
Alongside its typical dining format, Giggling Squid Brentwood offers bar-style seating shaping the centre of the restaurant; a first for the brand. Like all Giggling Squids, Brentwood comes with its own charm and personality. The space showcases classic Giggling Squid features including handmade driftwood artwork handmade by co-founder Pranee Laurillard and a bookcase with books from Brentwood’s charity shops. Whilst a quirky floral theme is established throughout the handwoven branches and trellis on the walls and hanging baskets on the ceiling.
Owned by Thai-born Pranee Laurillard and her husband Andrew, Giggling Squid – the nickname of one of their three children – was founded in the basement of a tiny fisherman’s cottage now the Brighton restaurant, where dreams of replicating a little taste of home became a reality. The couple opened their first site in Hove in 2009 and have gone on to establish a strong reputation for authentic Thai cooking with an emphasis on signature curries and coastal specialities. The launch of Brentwood takes the family of restaurants to 21.
