History, tradition and timeless elegance are all the hallmarks of The Cavalry and Guards Club and Champagne Lanson, which makes them the perfect bedfellows – and why one of London’s most exclusive private members clubs has decided to add SIX of Lanson’s Champagnes on to its wine list.
Champagne Lanson’s Père et Fils, Noble Cuvée Blanc de Blancs 2002,Lanson’s Gold Label 1998 (Magnum), Gold Label 2005; Lanson’s Rose Label (the UK’s No.1 NV Brut rosé); and Lanson’s Ivory Label can all be enjoyed at the prestigious Club for the first time.
The Cavalry Club was founded in 1890 and The Guards Club in 1810 before the two Clubs merged to become The Cavalry and Guards Club, in 1976. As well as commissioned officers and ex-officers of Guards, Cavalry and Yeomanry regiments, its membership includes senior Royals and military figures. This gracious building is situated at the Hyde Park Corner end of Piccadilly, in the heart of Mayfair, with wonderful views of Green Park.
The Cavalry and Guards Club has maintained its traditional image while an extensive programme of refurbishment in recent years has created a gracious and relaxed ambiance. With seven elegant and beautifully proportioned private function rooms, The Cavalry and Guards Club is able to cater for lunches, dinners, wedding receptions, cocktail parties, meetings and seminars – from a very intimate occasion to large-scale banquets.
Paul Beavis, Champagne Lanson, Managing Director, UK & International says: “Sommeliers are always looking for something new and genuine and it’s one of the reasons why we created Lanson Père et Fils Brut NV exclusively for the on trade. Lanson Père et Fils Brut NV is a perfect aperitif with Lanson’s renowned freshness and added weight from extended ageing to ensure it’s also food-friendly. Our most recent Sommelier Wine Award 2017 for ‘Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year’ is a great honour for Lanson and is proof positive that our well-crafted portfolio of Champagnes are loved by Sommeliers, welcomed and enjoyed by customers and have been given the added exposure and recognition they justly deserve. We are thrilled that The Cavalry and Guards Club is able to showcase our range of Champagnes to its Members. ”
The Cavalry and Guards Club’s Secretary, David Cowdery adds: “Our Head Sommelier, Andre Martins knows instinctively what our Members want. We are looking forward to delighting them with Lanson’s awardwinning portfolio of Champagnes. The Cavalry and Guards Club has seven banqueting rooms, offering fine dining for its Members, so we are convinced that the addition to the wine list will be welcomed.”
