Sopwell House in St Albans, one of the UK’s most prestigious country house estates,has appointed Thomas Garlich as its new General Manager.
In his exciting new role, Thomas will oversee the 128 stylish guest rooms, 16 exclusive Mews Suites, two restaurants, an elegant cocktail lounge and conservatory bar, along with the strong conference and wedding business within the 19 meeting and banqueting spaces.
As the new General Manager, Thomas will also be responsible for the extensive expansion of the spa which will commence later this year.
He joins Sopwell House from Luton Hoo Hotel Golf and Spa where he was Resident Manager for eight years.
Thomas has worked in the hospitality industry since 1983. He started his career as a Chef apprentice in Germany where he worked in a number of Michelin starred restaurants. In 1996, Thomas completed his Master’s Degree in Hospitality Administration and Management in Dortmund, Germany.
In the early 2000s, Thomas took his experience to Front of House and commenced working within the management side of the Hotel business. Starting as the Food & Beverage Manager at the Pink Beach Club in Bermuda, he was soon promoted to Resident Manager where he worked for eight years gaining invaluable experience.
Thomas is now ready take on new challenges as the General Manager at Sopwell House and is looking forward to working with the hotel’s passionate team. Looking to the future he is keen to cement Sopwell House’s position as one of the market leaders in the luxury destination hotels arena.
