Come rain or shine, the newly refurbished ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel is the ultimate destination for visitors looking to explore the vibrant city. The hotel draws inspiration from Britain’s obsession with the weather and each section of the hotel pays homage to a different season. From cosy colours to bright fixtures, every cloud really does have a silver lining at the ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel.
Heading inside the lobby features an array of giant umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, guaranteed to keep guests dry as they grab their room key and make their way to one of three weather themed bedrooms.
Each room boasts a dazzling level of detail and imagination, as well as providing the ultimate comfort with the SweetBedTM by ibis Styles. The Sunshine Room welcomes guests with a bright yellow front door, light blue walls and quirky features such as a grass ottoman, and a movable cloud table that allows guests to work while they relax. This summery room perfectly captures the essence of warm, sunny days, with the TV set amongst an ice cream cone backdrop, surely the ultimate summer treat.
Other rooms include the Raindrop Room, with cool blue colours and funky art work that will brighten guest’s spirits, whatever the weather outside. Teardrop lights, raindrop hangers and an umbrella themed TV holder add to the theme, which is cemented with fun graphics throughout.
Guest will be blown away in the Breezy room, which has an autumnal feel to it, with warm orange colours and earthy prints. Tilted lightshades, pictures and side tables re-create that ‘caught in a gale’ feeling, and the leaf printed floors are reminiscent of autumn walks in the woods. All the public spaces are in-keeping with the seasonal theme of the hotel; guests can get creative in the lifts by taking a selfie under a giant umbrella, check the forecast on the staircase and even see their face in the clouds in the bathrooms.
Diners with a taste for travel can take a culinary journey at the just-opened Jamboree Foodfest & Bar, which sits adjacent to the hotel. The new restaurant offers robust, exciting and moreish flavours from around the world, celebrating culture, diversity and global adventure in food and drink form, with a party atmosphere of sunny climes and laid back vibes.
There’s a luscious line-up of global burgers on offer, all served with delicious complementary sides and toppings in a menu full of bite and personality. With names inspired by their country of origin, diners will come face to face with the ‘Raging Bull’, made with 100% Argentinian beef or refuel with the wholly proper and traditional ‘Morris Major’, and its treacle onion relish.
Karelle Lamouche, SVP of Budget & Economy Brands at AccorHotels UK, says: “Adding the fully-refurbished Portland Hotel to our ever expanding portfolio of ibis Styles perfectly highlights the strength of our proposition and reinforces the brand as the benchmark in the economy segment. In keeping with the ibis Styles brand, the interior has now been brought to life expertly through unique and creative storytelling and playful design features, which provides our guests with a sense of fun and experience. Additionally, the hotels’ close proximity to the city centre makes it an ideal base to explore the many sights and sounds of Manchester.”
Peter Stack, Managing Director of Amaris Asset Management, comments: “We’ve made significant investment in the property to transform it to an ibis Styles and it’s exciting to see the vision and concept come to life.”
