May 4th this year will see the owners of critically-acclaimed Pop Brixton restaurant, and street food van, Donostia Social Club expanding their remit with the launch of The Tapas Room in Tooting’s Broadway Market.
Functioning as drink shop, deli and eatery, The Tapas Room will offer bar seating where guests can enjoy a glass of their chosen tipple alongside food from a clever complementary menu comprising Basque-inspired tapas, charcuterie and cheese.
The venue will showcase specialist wines, sherries, vermouths and cavas from the Basque and Spanish regions which have all been carefully sourced by partners Paul Belcher and Adrian Copplestone’s import company DSC Imports and associated wine suppliers.
With the founders having created and nurtured partnerships with producers and distributors including Boutinot, Alliance Wines, Flavours of Spain and Delicioso, The Tapas Room’s precisely-curated selection of produce is unrivalled – and can be enjoyed in-house, for takeaway, or though delivery via Uber, Deliveroo and Amazon.
Commenting on the new venue, owner Paul Belcher notes, “The Tapas Room allows me to further build upon the passion for Basque cooking I’ve showcased through Donostia Social Club. We can expand our wine and beer offering with the new space, which gives us a shop-front for our exclusive products.”
