Countess of York at the National Railway Museum has won the Afternoon Tea of the Year award at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, which celebrate the best in English tourism.
The Countess of York beat off stiff competition from The Grand, Brighton and The Chester Grosvenor to secure the prestigious accolade at yesterday’s (24 April) ceremony at the Hilton Waldorf in London.
The Countess of York, a beautifully restored 1956 Pullman-style carriage converted into an Edwardian style dining car, is a joint venture between the Science Museum Group and Levy Restaurants UK, the National Railway Museum’s catering partner. Since opening in 2015 it has consistently impressed visitors with its exceptional afternoon tea as well as private events and wedding receptions.
