One of the fastest growing restaurant concepts in the US, Smashburger, has announced they will be opening of five new UK restaurants. The new sites have been acquired in Bath, Glasgow, Dunfermline, Wednesbury and Inverness.
The first of the new restaurants to open will be in Bath City Centre on Southgate Street in early May. The brand’s first Scottish restaurant will open in Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Centre in June, followed by a further two Scottish openings in Dunfermline in July and Inverness in November. Smashburger will open at Junction 9 Retail Park in Wednesbury in the West Midlands in August 2017.
Three Smashburger UK restaurants have already been opened in the last nine months in Milton Keynes, Brighton and, most recently, Newcastle.
We understand that the Smashburger group plan to open 10 restaurants in the UK over the next 12 months with a goal to open 35 by the end of 2020 to include London, Manchester, Cardiff, Leeds, Edinburgh, Reading and Colchester.
Smashburger group’s plans seem to underline that the gourmet burger growth trend continues, seemingly unabated as consumers continue to pay to appreciate better burgers.
