Marco Pierre White unveils plans for a new Southampton steakhouse

By James Russell: Marco Pierre White unveils plans for a new Southampton steakhouse

March 17, 2017

Renowned chef and restaurateur, Marco Pierre White (MPW), is bringing his popular Steakhouse Bar & Grill to Southampton this May 2017.

Following the success of Marco’s annual pop-up restaurant housed at The Grand Harbour Hotel during the Southampton Boat Show, Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse Bar & Grill will now become a permanent restaurant at the hotel located on West Quay Road.

The 146 capacity restaurant is to become a must-visit for local food lovers and hotel guests alike. Diners can expect signature MPW steaks, timeless English and French classics, and a comprehensive selection of premium cocktails, all delivered with Marco’s unique flair.

The Steakhouse Bar & Grill menu is exclusively curated by Marco himself. To suit all tastes, it typically includes a mix of childhood favourites and modern day delicacies – ranging from Welsh Rarebit and Chicken Kiev, to Baked Camembert and a selection of 28-day aged native breed steaks. Marco’s ethos is all about classic dishes, simply cooked using the best locally sourced ingredients.

Marco, once the youngest chef to hold three Michelin stars, said: “We’ve received some great feedback from those who visited us during the Southampton Boat Show, and it’s great to now be bringing visitors a permanent restaurant. I’m incredibly excited to spend more time in the region, and to watch this new restaurant unfold.

“My restaurants are not stuffy and pretentious; instead they are about enjoying your evening, with excellent food and drink in luxurious, relaxed surroundings and quite simply having a good time.

“That’s the kind of experience that our guests in Southampton can look forward to, with something to suit every taste and budget. I call it affordable glamour and we hope it’s an experience our guests will want to return to again and again.”

Nick Taplin, CEO of Black & White Hospitality, said: “We’ve hosted several pop-up eateries at The Grand Harbour Hotel over the years, and we feel it is the perfect location to showcase the impressive Steakhouse Bar & Grill brand, with excellent food and drink at pricing to suit all budgets. We’re delighted to be expanding our steakhouse offering to Southampton.”

Lara Beechey, general manager at The Grand Harbour Hotel, added: “We have no doubt we’re the perfect venue for Marco’s steakhouse and we’re delighted to be bringing this exciting concept to Southampton for diners to enjoy.”
