Brewers across the UK will be celebrating a significant 6% rise in UK beer exports in 2016, according to new figures from HMRC.
When you look at specific areas of export the report gets even more interesting with an extraordinary 500% rise in exports to China. UK brewers capitalised on coverage in 2015 of Chinese President Xi Jinping enjoying a pint with former Prime Minister David Cameron. The beers were enjoyed at The Plough in Cadsen, a few minutes away from Cameron’s countryside residence at that time, Chequers. Good call David.
Exports to India rose by 417%, with exports to the EU showing solid growth of 5% per cent.
We’ll have to raise a glass to that and hope the trend continues, cheers!
