More than 200 bedrooms across Surya Hotel’s Dragonfly portfolio are undergoing extensive refurbishment to bring them up to modern standards.
The work is part of major renovations which sees 241 bedrooms earmarked for refurbishment in Colchester, King’s Lynn, Peterborough and Bury St Edmunds – each to be decorated to modern standards with beautiful contemporary designs and furnishings.
Communal areas have also been singled out for investment to create a contemporary feel at each of the hotels.
Surya Hotels are one of the UK’s leading niche hotel groups with a rapidly expanding portfolio of properties, situated in some of the UK’s most idyllic settings, from historic towns and coastal resorts to picturesque villages.
Acquiring the Dragonfly portfolio in January 2016 the group announced it would make significant investment to bring the properties, which were looking tired in places, up to Surya Hotel’s standards.
The successful acquisition saw Surya Hotel’s portfolio increase to 11 hotels across the UK – seven niche, including Great Hallingbury Manor, near Stansted, The Kingscliff Hotel, Clacton and The George, Colchester, joined by the four Dragonflys, the group’s budget hotel range. Earlier this year the group also announced the iconic George Hotel on Colchester’s High Street and adjacent properties are to undergo an enormous £10m revamp, subject to planning permission, to expand and restore the hotel to its former glory.
Suki Dulai, Managing Director of Surya Hotels Ltd said: “We are delighted to be getting on with the business of bringing the Dragonflys up to the standards of other hotels within the Surya group and continuing to make significant investment in the local area. These four wonderfully situated hotels in East Anglia are a great addition to our already impressive line-up, offering competitively priced, quality facilities and accommodation in the heart of stunning villages and towns.
“The Dragonfly rooms were looking tired in places, so we are pleased to bring them back up to modern standards. We are dedicated to investing and improving all our hotels, ensuring we continue to make our hotels as welcoming, stylish and comfortable as possible for our guests. ”
