Seafood and oyster specialists, Wright Brothers have announced that their fifth site is due to open in Summer 2017, at the iconic Grade II listed Battersea Power Station.
Designed by Macaulay Sinclair, the 150-cover restaurant will have an open theatre-style kitchen complete with a Josper charcoal oven, which seals and enhances the natural flavour of seafood, marble tables and an oyster display bar in addition to bespoke leather banquette seating. There will also be a private dining room for up to 24 people and an outdoor riverside terrace with views of the Power Station.
Wright Brothers Battersea will follow the group’s established ‘sea-to-plate’ ethos, offering high quality sustainable seafood and shellfish. On the menu there will be some new additions alongside firm favourites such as fruits de mer, Isle of Lewis langoustine, grilled prawns and indulgent roast crab. Taking the formality out of seafood, Wright Brothers Battersea will challenge the status quo and aim to make seafood more accessible, hosting regular oyster masterclasses and serving oysters at £1 a pop.
Ben Wright and Robin Hancock, Wright Brothers co-owners said:
“We’re incredibly excited to be opening a new restaurant right next to the iconic Grade II listed Power Station. Since 2005, when we opened our first restaurant at Borough Market, it makes us proud that our wholesale business now supplies over 250 top restaurants with seafood, and to open our fifth restaurant south of the river.”
The Wright Brothers founded their seafood wholesale business in 2002 before opening their first restaurant in Borough Market in 2005. Since then the group has grown and followed with openings in Soho, Spitalfields and South Kensington. This month the wholesale side of the business is moving from Borough Market to Billingsgate to expand its operation within London.
