Safety in numbers – RP Adam changes the game in dosing & dispensing

By James Russell: Safety in numbers – RP Adam changes the game in dosing & dispensing

February 8, 2017

Safe dosing and dispensing within the cleaning industry has long been a challenge faced by many companies looking to combine 100% connectivity with a bespoke anti-leak proof cap device.

Of course, chemical dosing systems are already a core part of any professional cleaning process and whilst some are able to offer some degree of safety, for example fixed caps or anti-free pour lids, there has still been a requirement for systems that can provide assured safety for both users and machinery.

Following years of innovative research and co-ordinated working with UK supplier Dema, RP Adam Ltd (Arpal Group) is now offering customers a range of glass and dishwashing detergents and super concentrates for catering and building services cleaning that confidently delivers this Holy Grail.

The SafeLink™ system addresses the five core issues recognised as potential hazard areas with chemical dispensing including: easy removal, leakage when container left on its side or inverted, tamper proof, colour co-ordination between flask insert and cap and safe for users.

Commercial dishwashing often uses detergents which can cause burns to the skin as well as severe eye damage if splashed or spilled. In response to this, we have developed the innovative Duotek4 auto-dosing system which utilises SafeLink™ Duraseal Technology offering welcome peace of mind to the safety conscious customer.

This is an ultra-safe system for automatic liquid dish and glass washing and can be fitted on all types of machine. It utilises a revolutionary safety mechanism in the neck of the 5lt flask which forms a leak-proof connection between the chemical flask and the electronic dosing equipment.

By choosing cleaning power and this unique safety feature, users can be confident that the possibility of corrosive chemicals coming into contact with the user is significantly minimised.

As there is no credible ‘ultra-safe’ cabinet chemical glass washing system available on the market today, we now provide the licenced trade with unrivalled user safety. Most pubs will have the 5lt containers lying on the floor, with the caps open next to the glass washer. This presents a significant risk to bar staff if the corrosive detergent is kicked over. Now, with Duotek4, even if the flask is dropped or kicked over none of the corrosive chemicals can escape and cause injury. Our detergent and rinse safety variant can be used with integral feed machines too (so no external dosing unit) by simply connecting the feeder tubes which will be adapted to take the safety-cap.

This has proven to be a huge benefit to customers within the hospitality and leisure sectors with both Shearings Holidays and Odeon Cinemas adopting it successfully.

Bryan Pitman, Group Purchasing Manager, Shearings Holidays said: “It is easy for operatives to use and the safety it offers in not being able to free pour chemicals is second to none.”

Peter Ford, Risk Management Director, Odeon Cinemas added: “Innovation and Health and Safety play an integral part of what Odeon stands for as a business and when RP Adam offered us the SafeLink system we jumped at the opportunity.”

In conjunction to this safe handling mechanism, RP Adam is able to provide customers a diluting system that not only reduces the risk to staff but also removes the threat of over-consumption by providing ultimate dosing control.

This system is called SafeLink™ and is ideal for use with super-concentrated products which carry hazardous warnings give a dilution of 200-1 and have a disinfection kill rate of 15 seconds. Using this system means users can ensure it is completely safe for the operative to dilute, without getting near the raw chemical solution.

The Ecopax unit works alongside SafeLink™ and consists of technology that incorporates a chemical and water mixing station. This maximises chemical cleaning by bringing together a range of five super authentic super concentrates featuring a glass cleaner, washroom sanitiser, surface degreaser and floor cleaner, kitchen sanitiser and a terminal surface disinfectant.

It works using two 2ltr containers of cleaning chemicals fitted with a SafeLink™ mechanism. This safety feature in the neck of the 2ltr flask then forms a leak-proof connection between the chemical cleaner and the dosing equipment. The concentrates are then vended through the mixing station providing two products for housekeeping and building services and three for catering areas – an all-round winner for businesses such as hotels, restaurants or care homes.

As well as these important safety benefits, the Ecopax system is also able to alleviate the negative environmental impacts of the products in use and reduce costs to the customer. By allowing users to use a more concentrated chemical less bottles of the product are required and in turn less packaging materials.
