A new general manager has been appointed at the South West’s leading four-star hotel.
Mehmet Kandemir has now joined DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House in Congresbury, North Somerset where he will take control of the day-to-day running of the hotel, house and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill.
Having worked at the venue as operations manager over 13 years ago, Mehmet is familiar with Cadbury House which since 2003, has undergone a huge, £27 million transformation making it the leading destination hotel, conference, meeting and wedding venue in the area.
With over 25 years’ experience in the hospitality sector, Mehmet, who was previously general manager at Mercure Holland House in Bristol, is now looking forward to consolidating the venue’s position, with ambitions to make it one of the best in the UK.
Mehmet said: “Having worked here before I already knew about Cadbury House and the investment it has benefitted from over the past decade.
“It’s a phenomenal venue and is a very well balanced business when you combine the different elements such as the hotel, meeting and conference facilities, restaurant, wedding offering and health club. It’s a great recipe for success.
“My aims are to build on the strength of the team, improve service delivery and overall quality so that guest experience is improved. Occupancy is already high but I plan to increase that again further.
“The opportunity to work with Nick (Taplin) was also too good an opportunity to miss. His vision and energy is second-to-none and I hope to help channel Nick’s passion to make Cadbury House the venue of choice for both business and leisure travellers from all across the UK.”
