Leading Hotel And Health Club Plugs Into Electric Car Revolution

By James Russell: Leading Hotel And Health Club Plugs Into Electric Car Revolution

February 6, 2017

The South West’s leading hotel and health club has teamed up with one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of electric cars so that guests and members can charge their vehicles during their visit.

Tesla, which recently launched the Model X, has embarked on an ambitious European roll out programme where full-service hotels, restaurants and resorts will host the distinct car charging ports.

The hotel and health club at DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House in North Somerset will now become one of the first venues in the South West to provide this service to its guest, customers and health club members.

It means Tesla owners out on road trips will be able to stop over at the four-star venue and recharge their batteries while their cars top up at the same time.

Mehmet Kandemir, general manager at Cadbury House said: “More and more of our customers are driving electric cars including the popular Tesla models.

“As a result we need to be able to accommodate their need to charge up during their stay and the installation of the Tesla charging ports is in reaction to this growing demand.

“We’ve always been one step of the curve in terms of our offering and this again demonstrates our willingness and ability to react to consumer demands by providing the latest in cutting edge technology.”

New registrations of plug-in cars increased from 3,500 in 2013 to around 85,000 by January 2017 and it’s this sales surge that has seen more and more demand for plug in ports at venues like Cadbury House.

The popular venue now has three charging points in the hotel car park and one in the health club car park but with space for future provision.

Jason Eaton, general manager at the health club added: “We envisage this as only the beginning of providing electric car owners the facilities they need when coming here and look forward to welcoming Tesla owners from across the country.”
