I haven’t been to Maxwells for years and I really enjoyed going back to the familiarity and rousing atmosphere. The staff as always were energetic and helpful. It was a pleasant change to have my daughter with me on assignment. I looked forward to hearing her opinion because, as most grown-ups are aware, teenagers know everything.
My partner The Bearded One was to sample the Cheesebomb Burger and Cassidy the Freakshake. We asked for the cheese separately so I could photograph the promised awesome gooey-ness. As you can see from the images the cheese didn’t disappoint, more please sir.
The burger was beautifully cooked and there was excess cheese for me to use on my fajitas, I just couldn’t resist. Needless to say, from a peek at the image above, The Bearded One required a knife and fork to tackle his cheesy meat-feast mountain. He was pleased indeed.
When the Freakshake arrived, (which was colossal) Cassidy pulled out her phone and made it instantly famous on Snapchat, so I knew it was a success. Much to her dismay, it arrived with 3 spoons.
However, the intense mixture of cream, Oreos, ice cream and a handmade ice-cream sandwich sitting on its precipice defeated her and she was then grateful for the help from the grown-ups.
As well as having all-day happy hours on Sundays and Mondays to keep the grown-ups happy, I would recommend Maxwells for family outings and of course keeping teenagers happy.
