Giggling Squid brings the flavours of Thailand to Farnham

By James Russell: Giggling Squid brings the flavours of Thailand to Farnham

February 2, 2017

Giggling Squid, the popular and innovative family of Thai restaurants, is pleased to announce its latest opening in Farnham.  Centrally located on Castle Street, the 140-cover restaurant will offer its signature Thai cuisine in a stylish yet relaxed setting.

Open for lunch through dinner, the menu offers an array of seafood, curries, stir fries, meat dishes, rice and noodles including the popular tapas lunch tasting sets.  Families are also catered for with the ‘Little Tapas for Little People’ menu, designed for children the menu features smaller versions of popular dishes including Chicken satay and Pad Thai.

Like all Giggling Squids, Farnham will have its own individual character and charm with period features and open fireplaces throughout the Grade II listed building, which is situated over two floors. Wooden floors and exposed brickwork, combined with stunning reclaimed mirrors, hand-designed furniture create a warm and welcoming ambience. Classic Giggling Squid features including handmade driftwood artwork and eye-catching intricately woven flowered baskets adorn the walls handmade by Co-founder Pranee Laurillard.   There is also a semi-private room, available to book for up to six people.

Owned by Thai-born Pranee Laurillard and her husband Andrew, Giggling Squid – the nickname of one of their three children – was founded in the basement of a tiny fisherman’s cottage, now the Brighton restaurant, where dreams of replicating a little taste of home became a reality. The couple opened their first site in Hove in 2009 and have gone on to establish a strong reputation for authentic Thai cooking with an emphasis on signature curries and coastal specialities. The launch of Farnham takes the family of restaurants to 20.
