A small workman’s café, Bouche à Oreille in the town of Bourges, central France was accidentally awarded a Michelin star, much to the amusement and delight of the café owners. They were immediately inundated with diners hoping for a gastronomic treat, as well as eager TV and Press reporters.
To add to the embarrassment of Michelin the tiny Bouche à Oreille is quirkily also located in the same town in France where The Michelin Guide originated.
The guide did apologise as soon as the gaffe was realised saying it had somehow confused the café with a more refined establishment of the same name near Paris – and the listing has since been amended on its website.

We must report that when on Google Maps looking for ‘Le Bouche à Oreille’ restaurant there is no shortage of options. That said when handing out Michelin stars one would expect some precision.
Glad to report, all’s well that ends well, as we understand Aymeric Dreux (Chef at workman’s café, Bouche à Oreille) phoned Madame Jacquet at Le Bouche à Oreille near Paris and apparently they had a good laugh about it.
Wonder if Bouche à Oreille can they now use ‘former Michelin star holder’ in their marketing?
