Who would have thought we would be marking the 80th anniversary of a catering industry networking group that first started in 1937. That’s quite an achievement! The Wine Dinner on Friday 24th February will reflect our celebratory mood, with some very special guests including celebrity chefs, Michel Roux Jr. and Adam Handling. The champagne and wine will be flowing at the fabulous five star Langham Hotel, and our chosen charity, Wiggly Worm will be there to receive their cheque, thanks to all the donations from our generous members and friends. Don’t miss the party – Book for Wine Dinner.
Adam HandlingAdam Handling, Chef Patron at The Frog E1 joins us as Chef Patron for ACE
Adam has kindly agreed to be Chef Patron for ACE, and will be a guest at our popular Wine Dinner at the Langham Hotel on 24th February. Read about his appointment Adam Handling becomes Chef Patron of ACE.
The menu for the Wine Dinner has been prepared by Executive Chef Chris King
Chris works with Michel Roux Jr. to deliver all of the foodservice at The Langham and we are delighted that Michel will also be joining us that night. It’s bound to be an occasion not to be missed! This is a wonderful opportunity to mingle with friends and colleagues over a delicious dinner, and it will no doubt sell out very quickly so don’t delay – you can buy tickets on the ACE website.
Thank you to our wine sponsors
We are grateful to Laurent Perrier for providing the champagne on arrival, and Laytons for providing the wine to accompany the dinner. You can read more about the chosen wines here.
A brief history of ACE
The Industrial Catering Association (ICA) started in 1937 prior to the Second World War when contract catering was first introduced. During the 1970s the ICA joined the European Catering Association. In 2006 it was decided that the needs of the UK members differed from that of the parent group and it was agreed that a new organisation was required. Thus ECA evolved into ACE and the current Association of Catering Excellence was formed.
The Wiggly Worm
So far we have raised nearly £3,000 for ACE’s chosen charity The Wiggly Worm, a charity that helps vulnerable and disadvantaged people gain confidence through giving them new skills in food preparation. Thanks to everybody who has bought raffle tickets at our events and helped us support this fantastic organisation.
We will be holding an auction during the evening of the Wine Dinner in aid of The Wiggly Worm with the main prize being dinner for two and membership of M Restaurants, being donated by Collins King.
