Based on exclusive hotel price data from 2016, trivago.co.uk has revealed the cheapest and most expensive destinations in the UK. Using data from 1 January to 31 December 2016, the destinations have been aggregated from towns and cities with at least 60 hotels.
Blackpool is the number one low-cost destination in the UK
With an average hotel price of £63, Blackpool is the cheapest place in the UK for hotel accommodation. With the average hotel price in the UK coming in at £94, Blackpool offers average savings of £29 compared to the country average.
Coastal towns and cities dominate the results for 2016, with traditional seaside locations such as Great Yarmouth, Scarborough and Torquay featuring in the top 10. The cities of Sheffield, Nottingham and Newcastle also feature, coming in at fourth, seventh and tenth respectively.

London is the most expensive destination in the UK
With an average price of £156, London hotels are unsurprisingly £93 more expensive than the UK’s cheapest and £62 above the country average.
Bath comes in at second place, with an average price of £144, whilst the University cities of Oxford and Cambridge take third and fourth place respectively.
Two Scottish cities also make the list; the capital Edinburgh at sixth place and the northeast coastal city of Inverness coming in eighth.

Based on hotel searches made between 01.01.2016 and 31.12.2016. Each destination included in the data capture had at least 60 hotels and showed availability throughout the 12-month period.
