New Season of Entertainment at Crazy Coqs

By James Russell: New Season of Entertainment at Crazy Coqs

December 4, 2016

Live At Zédel, Soho’s unique live entertainment concept, has announced its second season of live music, musical theatre, cabaret and comedy, launching in January 2017. Following on from the huge success of its launch in September 2016, Live At Zedel’s new season will feature a programme jam-packed with themed festivals, one-off specials, brand new talent, its first self-produced musical and well-loved residencies.

Produced in partnership with United Agents, Live At Zedel’s multi-disciplinary programme of the Arts utilises both the Brasserie and The Crazy Coqs spaces within the magnificent art deco Zédel building. From week-long events such as French Fest and a brand new musical commissioned for the space ‘After You’, to acts as diverse as Greg Davies, Danny- Boy Hatchard and the Philharmonia Orchestra, Live At Zedel’s new programme will merge up-and-coming talent and writing with established acts, fusing genres and bringing energy to Soho’s nightlife scene.

Since its launch, Live At Zédel has hosted some of the UK’s most talked about musical talent, across many genres, and its new season will be no different. From classical to jazz and folk to pop and cabaret, already confirmed in the new season are three-time Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman for a special three week run, Academy Award winning composer Stephen Warbeck, Sunset Boulevard’s Ria Jones, X Factor winner Matt Cardle and West End’s Frankie Valli himself Ryan Molloy. Continuing their ongoing residences are Cabaret sensations La Voix, DENIM and Miss Hope Springs. Whilst jazz stays at the forefront of the programme with the likes of Ian Shaw, Jacquie Dankworth, Sarah Jane Morris, Lianne Carol & Hailey Tuck performing throughout the season.

As official London partner venue to the London Philharmonia, Live At Zédel will continue to host a series of intimate performances in The Crazy Coqs, culminating in a breath-taking one-off performance with the Orchestra in the main Brasserie space on Sunday 29th January for which tickets sold out in under an hour.

New writing will also play a leading role in Live At Zédel’s latest offering. Kicking off 2017 is ‘January’, an exclusive satirical theatre piece that explores all trials and tribulations that come with the start of a new year, and taking place in April, After You will be an entirely new musical created especially to be performed at the intimate Crazy Coqs venue.

In addition to music and theatre, leading comedy agents, PBJ and Avalon management will be teaming up with Live At Zédel to host a number of big name comedy nights throughout the season.

Highly creative and broad in its scope, Live At Zédel has in its new season created another inimitable line-up that delivers a unique experience for discerning and curious culture-hungry Londoners of all ages.
