Le Gavroche to go ‘service included’

By James Russell: Le Gavroche to go ‘service included’

December 14, 2016

Michel Roux Jr has announced his decision to include service on all diners’ bills at Le Gavroche from the end of January 2017.

This will be marked on the bill and menus to make it clear that no further payment or gratuity is needed, and credit card slips will be closed.

Michel said that: “There is too much ambiguity between service charges and tips, so I have taken what may be seen by many in the industry as a bold decision to go ‘service included’.

“Hopefully others will join me in making it clearer for the public to understand what they are paying for, and this move will also ensure there is complete transparency for our front of house and kitchen teams.”

Currently the restaurant operates In line with the British Hospitality Association’s Code of Practice in adding a discretionary service charge on all diners’ bills. This service charge is not a tip.
