Koh Thai Tapas launches in Lymington

By James Russell: Koh Thai Tapas launches in Lymington

December 8, 2016

Last night saw the much anticipated 12th Koh site launch in Lymington to an excitable crowd. The launch comes following the announcement last week that Koh have completed an MBO with equity invested by the Alcuin Capital Partners. With future plans to continue The Koh Group’s steady growth, Lymington will become the Group’s fifth acquisition in Hampshire as they move into the vibrant and bustling coastal port town.

The night saw an incredible turnout with over 200 guests arriving within the first half hour. The crowd arrived from local businesses to view the new Thai tapas restaurant enjoying a Hattingley drinks reception with canapé sized samples of what will feature on the menu.

The Group’s CEO who led the MBO also was in attendance and commented:

“Lymington has been in our sights for some time now and we are delighted to finally launch this beautiful site. There has been an incredible buzz since our announcement from our fan base in Lymington of loyal customers who have been visiting our Ringwood and Christchurch branches. We are also seeing great support from those new to the restaurant who are excited to try something new. The site itself is extraordinary with bags of character and a romantic festoon-lit garden space which will set us apart from competitors along the high street” Andrew Lennox, CEO & Founder.

Formerly occupied by La Vina, Koh Thai Tapas has brought a taste of Thailand to the Grade II listed property gently transformed with the beautiful and iconic Koh features: hand painted murals and ornate fretwork in the elegantly lit long and narrow space.

Located on 113 High Street, the property is in a perfect central location in the middle of the main street and is expected to attract a healthy footfall for trade over lunch, dinner and takeaway service. The already characterful site will boast 100 covers and an additional 80 covers within the spectacular garden space – perfect for outdoor dining.

The acquisition – which has taken over 24 months of negotiation – will become the Group’s fourth opening this year alone with expectations for an additional two openings in 2017. Lymington has long been on the Koh Thai Tapas radar, fitting in with acquisition plans as a lively market town demographic with a large commuter base. This follows plenty of noise in the town from existing patrons calling for a much needed Koh Thai Tapas in the town. The restaurant plans to bring a burst of energy to the town from its lively atmosphere with a local charm, playful bar and the same much loved Koh Thai Tapas menu.
