Bar + Block Steakhouse Arrives in King’s Cross

By James Russell: Bar + Block Steakhouse Arrives in King’s Cross

December 17, 2016

Ready for a grilling King’s Cross? Bar + Block Steakhouse has landed on York Way with high-quality steaks at high-street prices. Whether you’re looking for a beefed-up breakfast, lunch or dinner, diners can expect a menu that’s a cut above the rest.

Located in the bona fide drinking + dining hub of King’s Cross, Bar + Block is the latest arrival to London’s steakhouse scene. From business brunches to lightening-speed lunches and relaxed suppers, tuck into juicy steaks hand cut to order throughout the day. The bar is as important as the bites at Bar + Block, with a contemporary cocktail menu, global wine list and a dedicated snack menu.

Steaks + Snacks

Sourced from the Pampas in South America then dry-aged for a minimum of 28 days, Bar + Block’s steaks are the real deal. Take your pick of steak royalty from the 8oz or 10oz rump, rib eye, sirloin, fillet or signature spiral cut fillet, all hand-cut and cooked. Fancy yourself a steak aficionado? Look to the Butcher’s Block collection of rotating specials; served on a solid wooden block with a choice of sauces, once these prime cuts are gone they’re gone. All steaks come with beef dripping chunky chips. Make it a surf ‘n’ turf affair with king prawns on top, sautéed in plenty of garlic butter. Young carnivores can enjoy a dedicated kid’s menu, featuring mini steak & frites and 6oz beef burger and chips.

Guests can also look forward to sharers and snacks such as chicken wings with raspberry and Tabasco sauce, beef empanadas or a choice of flatbreads. Mains include slow-cooked pork belly, beef short ribs and handmade beef burgers, alongside lighter dishes like flattened grilled chicken on a bed of rocket and heritage tomatoes. Even breakfast has been given the carnivorous touch with highlights including the Bar + Block works, steak and eggs, and eggs benedict with smoked streaky bacon, ideal for lazy weekend brunching.

In a hurry + hungry? Bar + Block’s express menu will ensure your rumbling stomach is filled in 10 minutes for under a tenner! Available 12-5pm Monday to Friday, all dishes are cooked to order from classic steak & frites to open club sandwiches.

Bubbles + Brews

The central bar, lined with deep blue polished ceramic tiles and topped with reclaimed wood, offers a selection of craft beers from BrewDog and Goose Island, Rekorderlig ciders, local Camden Hells and a host of familiar favourites on tap including Meantime. Those with a preference for the grape can work their way through a carefully selected range of reds and whites, or bring on the bubbles with a glass of Prosecco or Champagne – the perfect post-work tipple!

Every Monday to Thursday, sip on innovative cocktails all at half price from 5-7pm, and on Fizz Fridays enjoy a bottle of Prosecco ! Indulge in a glass of Fantinel Prosecco, a Havana mojito, a Grey Goose Bloody Mary with the signature spicy ‘B’ sauce, or a Bacardi daiquiri, to name just a few.

Design + Décor

Butcher’s style floor tiles welcome guests towards cosy red-leather booths, bold retro chairs or buttery faun banquettes to kick back and relax. The modern design lends centre stage to a marble-topped Chef’s Table, where guests can pull up a stool to experience the theatre of the ‘Primed + Perfect’ open kitchen. Copper finishes, statement lighting and a neon cow ‘taste map’ – drawing connections between the farm and the plate – all provide a stylish setting.
