In the first partnership of its kind at England’s rugby headquarters, Engage and Gaucho created the perfect culinary accompaniment to the day’s main event, England’s Old Mutual Wealth Series match against Argentina which was held on Saturday 26th November at Twickenham.
Hosted by ex-England and Harlequins winger Ugo Monye, guests enjoyed the chance of dining with current England Internationals, including Marland Yarde and Jack Clifford.
Andrew Hodgkins, Engage’s managing director, explained how the partnership came about: “We always strive to be innovative and, as we had this great fixture in the Old Mutual Wealth Series, we wanted to create something totally different. Argentina is synonymous with great steak and fine Malbec and, of course, so is Gaucho.
“We approached Gaucho and they were more than happy to lay on their complete service in what the Engage Gaucho Lounge, including every detail from their own expert waiting staff and signature steaks to their traditional black tablecloths.
“The partnership worked superbly, with the 400 places selling out in four weeks. It was pleasing to see our event sales and marketing operation dovetailing perfectly with Gaucho’s industry-leading expertise. It allowed us to offer a unique and novel experience at Twickenham, while providing Gaucho with great exposure to a very receptive demographic in a new setting.”
England’s resurgent squad were the hot favourites to take their eleventh straight win, which they achieved in the perfect conclusion to the day: England 27-14 Argentina.
