This winter, The Understudy, the National Theatre’s riverside pub leading the craft beer scene on London’s vibrant South Bank, will launch a limited-edition bespoke beer – Tink’s Tiny Batch Pale Ale. The launch celebrates the arrival of Sally Cookson’s new production of Peter Pan to the National Theatre’s Olivier Theatre this season.
The brew, inspired by Peter Pan’s iconic fairy companion in JM Barrie’s beloved tale, has been created in partnership with the industry-leading microbrewers Hammerton Brewery in Islington. Throughout the duration of the production, the very special ale will be available to enjoy in the National Theatre’s bars and restaurants– while stocks last.
The American pale ale is based on Hammerton Brewery’s recipe for their session American pale ‘N1’, but has benefited from the addition of Tinkerbell’s ‘Fairy Dust’ in the form of the sought after American hop ‘Citra’. On the magical final touch, The Understudy says: “This ‘fairy dust’ contributes a musky floral & citrus-like aroma that cuts through the strong malt base of the beer”.
The special brew is the first in a series to be launched by the National Theatre, each of which will be in keeping with the theatre’s performance schedule. Available only while stocks last, Tink’s Tiny Batch makes for the perfect Christmas gift for those looking to escape to Neverland this winter.
