A nationwide search has been launched to find the luckiest person in Scotland to be the first-footer at a luxury Scottish castle hotel’s first ever Hogmanay celebration.
Inspired by the centuries-old Scots’ tradition, Crossbasket Castle near Glasgow is looking to welcome a tall, dark handsome stranger bearing gifts, who will bring with the midnight bells good fortune for the year ahead.
To help with their search, the castle has teamed up with Glasgow-based talent scout, All Talent Agency, which is offering contenders the chance to win a year-long listing as one of its stars.
The competition winner will also receive tickets to the glittering Hogmanay bash, and an overnight stay at the castle in 2017.
The castle’s first ever Hogmanay party is not just for tall, dark handsome strangers, Mark Lambson, general manager at Crossbasket Castle said: “We’re very excited for our big event. It’s the perfect excuse to dress up and see in 2017 with friends and family.
“We’re pulling out all the stops, magical entertainment, excellent food and drink and a spectacular setting. Now all we need is our first ever first-footer to bring us luck for 2017.”
Sonia Scott, owner, All Talent Agency added: “We’re really looking forward to helping Crossbasket Castle find the face of the castle. The competition is open to anyone and we can’t wait to see all the exciting entries.”
Rescued from ruin in 2011 by a local businessman and his wife, the 17th century castle was transformed into a five-star luxury hotel and events venue complete with fine-dining restaurant from legendary chefs Albert and Michel Roux Jr and has been awarded a number of top accolades since opening in April 2016.
Entrants must be over 18 years old and must send one headshot and one full body shot alongside a 100 word pitch explaining why they would be Crossbasket’s perfect first-footer by 25 November. The winner will be announced on 5 December 2016.
Crossbasket Castle’s Hogmanay celebration is a black-tie event including a festive feast from the hotel’s Albert & Michel Roux restaurant and featuring entertainment, a fireworks display and pipe band performance from Drams Ceilidh Band.
