Gordon and Tana Ramsay stepped out of the kitchen today to host their very own bake sale to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
The culinary couple, who together run the Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation which raises money for the world famous children’s hospital, set up their pitch in the GOSH canteen to sell cakes to patients, families and staff, answering all manner of questions about cupcakes and giving out top tips for the perfect bake along the way.
The event was all part of their efforts to encourage amateur bakers from across the UK to get their piping skills at the ready and join them in creating tempting treats to sell in the office, at school or in their community as part of the annual baking event, Bake it Better, which raises money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Gordon Ramsay said: “It’s a privilege to come in and spend time with patients, their families and the staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We had great fun setting up our own stall in the hospital and got some good baking tips from the hospital staff along the way!
“We would encourage people across the UK to get baking and host their own bake sale – you don’t need to be a professional chef to make tasty treats, and all the money raised can make a real difference to the lives of thousands of seriously ill children.”
Tana added: “As well as the bake sale we visited Koala ward where we enjoyed decorating cakes with children and their families. It was lovely to see them having some fun at what can be a really difficult time.”
To kick start Bake it Better, which runs from 17-21 October 2016, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity has put together a super fundraising kit, jam-packed full of bunting, cake toppers, posters, celebrity and patient recipes, baking themed games, stickers and top tips to ensure every bake sale is a sweet success.
Money raised will help Great Ormond Street Hospital to continue to provide world-class care for young patients and their families. Money raised could help with the rebuilding of the hospital, support ground-breaking research, fund the most up-to-date equipment and provide accommodation and other vital support services for children and their families.
