Pilpel, the family-owned restaurant group and falafel bar specialising in middle-eastern street food, will open its fifth City-based site in Aldgate on 24th October.
Open from 10am-9pm Monday to Friday, the menu focuses on the three key signature dishes – falafel, houmous and saabich (houmous, aubergine and boiled egg) served to eat-in or take-away, in pita or salad box, and served with a choice of salads, accompaniments such as hard boiled eggs, aubergine and guacamole and chilli or tahini sauce.
The falafel is made to a secret recipe handed down to Pilpel founder and owner Uri Dinay by his grandfather who ran a falafel and houmous kiosk in Tel Aviv for over 60 years. The result is a crisp, fluffy product made from 100% chickpeas, fresh spices and herbs without the addition of flour.
Designed by Ben Mailen of Mailen Design, the new Pilpel comprises 1,850 square feet and 50 covers. The marble serving counter sits alongside wall panels made from distressed copper overhung with exposed filament bulb lighting whilst the floor has a middle eastern geometric pattern.
Uri Dinay, founder of Pilpel, says: “We are delighted to announce the opening of our fifth site in London as part of the new Aldgate development. We have quite a following in the City already serving fresh, healthy food with exceptional service and lots of love. We’re confident this will be a great new location for us.”
Pilpel plans to open two more sites by the end of 2017.
