Three of the leading companies in the UK Foodservice Industry have joined forces to help London charity Crisis upgrade their catering equipment at their “Café from Crisis” on Commercial Street, London.

Tricon, C&C Catering Equipment Ltd and Unox UK teamed up to supply the charity with a new convection oven to allow their chefs to offer items such as cakes and biscuits after their existing unit failed.

Tricon, via their involvement with the BIFM Catering and Hospitality Special Interest Group, has been working for nine months with Jeremy Wood and the catering team at Crisis to help them build their links within the industry. Crisis operate three cafés in London, Oxford and Newcastle and these cafés provide a route into work for homeless people and ex-offenders by offering practical training programmes for anyone who wants to work within the hospitality and catering industry.

After discussion with Tricon’s Paul Greenwood, Crisis identified what they needed and C&C’s Paul Parry and Unox’s Gary Nunn put their heads together to source the correct oven for the task. The oven is being supplied and installed free of charge to help the charity support those who have fallen on hard times learn some catering skills and get back on their feet.

Jeremy Wood at Crisis commented “The oven really does make a difference to the operation of our kitchen and improves the product which we are delivering to customers. Both of these things will feed into us remaining a competitive and sustainable operation allowing us to continue to support our trainees into employment. So a big thank-you to all involved for the generous donation.”

C&C’s Project Director Paul Parry commented “We’re always glad to support a variety of charities at C&C, and are pleased to have been able to be involved with this worthwhile cause.”

Gary Nunn, Managing Director at Unox UK added “Well done to everyone involved. It is great to know that people in our industry have the heart to support others that are less fortunate and we are delighted to be able to contribute in some way.”
