This week, basement bar Company Below in Soho will be transformed into a botanical drinking den. Founder Bonny Porter and her team have developed a menu of herbal cocktails and deep-fried bao for the hidden space, tucked away beneath Greek Street.

A brand new cocktail list will make use of house infused spirits, unusual liqueurs and natural ingredients such as, ‘Smoke Without Fire’, mezcal, aloe vera, lime, chipotle and rhubarb soda. The team’s favourite is the ‘Vane’s Decline’, a drink that packs a punch with spiced rum, rooibos, rose water, black pepper and angostura. If you’re stopping by for a pre-dinner snifter, there’s ‘Eden’s Apple’, white rum, honey, eucalyptus, lemon and apple cider shrub. For after dark we recommend the Bitter Bayou, an original whiskey, amaro averna, house cherry syrup and creole bitter concoction.

Bonny will be on hand with Company Below’s signature deep fried bao buns, specially created to accompany a cocktail or two. Their new twists on bao can come filled with shortrib, pickles and salted chilli mayo or salt and pepper tofu with peanut chilli mayo. To compliment, there are Montgomery cheddar churros or butternut squash and blue cheese arancini. If you’re after something sweet to see you home, there’s the bao stuffed with brown butter pecan ice cream, chocolate and praline.

‘We’re a young and creative team at Company Below and we’ve all put our heads and hearts together to create the ideal hideaway under the streets of Soho. We can’t wait to see our regulars, and some new faces too, for a well-stirred drink and a bao or two!’ says Bonny.

Open late, Company Below will have a signature soundtrack of liquid funk, setting the tone for a night out in Soho. Under a canopy of low hanging plants, Company Below is the Soho underground venue to go to experience a unique cocktails and food offering.
