A Cheshire scout group has received a special commemorative hamper from Crewe-based Wrights Food Group, as part of the company’s 90th anniversary celebrations.
Robin Edwards, chairman of South West Cheshire Scout Group, along with several of its members, were presented with the hamper at the pie-maker’s headquarters – one of several Wrights has gifted to local organisations in its milestone year.
The group were nominated for their remarkable achievement in reaching their landmark centennial anniversary this month.
Robin said: “September marks our 100th anniversary so, like Wrights, we’re holding a celebration and an array of events throughout the month.
“We’re delighted to receive a Wrights hamper. We’d like to say a special thank you for choosing us, and also offer our congratulations to the company on reaching its 90th.”
Under the slogan 90 Tasty Years, Wrights has organised a string of events that involve people whose lives have been touched by the company since its Stoke-on-Trent beginnings.
The specially produced wooden hampers, filled with a selection of celebratory goodies, including a bottle of Wrights own-label Champagne, have been presented to those people living in and around Staffordshire and Cheshire who nominees feel deserved one – whether for an act of charity, kindness, dedication to a cause, being helpful, or running a club or organisation.
Wrights Chairman and CEO Peter Wright said: “In our 90th year we wanted to give something back to the local community who have supported us over the decades. “South West Cheshire Scout Group are clearly deserving of a 90 Tasty Years hamper, and we hope it goes some way in helping raise funds for the group. We wish them the best of luck with their 100th anniversary events.”
South West Cheshire Scout Group plan to raffle off the hamper during their anniversary month, with all proceeds going to the scout group to help support the wide range of activities made available for youngsters throughout the year.
