Image of the Week is all about engaging imagery, so apart from giving readers the basics of what the image is, where it was taken and why Majella chose it, we will let the images speak for themselves.
This week’s image is a dish created by Chef Elliott Lidstone when he was Head Chef at The Empress in London, Elliott’s dish is one of his personal favourite’s called ‘Octopus and Delicate Flavours.
Elliott has previously worked at Chewton Glen and L’ortolan and told us that both were great learning experiences he remembers fondly.
During this week’s image selection session Majella gave us a bit of background:
“I approached Elliott when I was building my portfolio and offered to photograph some of his creations. I tried to get over to The Empress at least once a month to see what Elliott was putting together, every visit without fail was a culinary revelation. I particularly enjoyed Elliott’s ability to co-ordinate his cooking with the seasons- Goat Curry, Snails in bone marrow was popular in the colder seasons and Octopus and delicate flavours in the summer. I always shot in natural light at The Empress and it was fun playing with the shadows as the sun would go down”.
