“Am I in the garden of Heaven Scent or Heaven itself? Just had a lovely lunch in the sun in Heaven Scent’s new garden. Highly recommend! It’s gorgeously peaceful and the food is yum!” (Facebook review)
Multiple award-winning Heaven Scent artisan coffee shop in Milnathort, Perthshire has recently opened The Secret Garden, a luscious sun-trap accessed through a green, leafy corridor from the back of the coffee shop.
Diners can now enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee and cake al fresco in the quirky surroundings and inimitable style that the Heaven Scent brand is famous for. A life-size chef sculpture presides over proceedings, a Buddha sits wisely in the flowers, a bike decked in greenery hangs from a fence and there’s even a stunning roof garden with hundreds of wild flowers.
The garden has 50 covers, doubling Heaven Scent’s total seating to 100, and includes outdoors bar stools, chunky wooden garden furniture, delicate iron tables and even a chaise longue. A section of the garden is being dedicated to growing herbs and vegetables, which school and community groups will be invited to help tend as well as grow their own.
Plans are in the making to convert the “slanty house”, one of the outbuildings, into a contemporary space which can be used for bread and baking workshops, and for local craftspeople to showcase their creations. We’d also like to use the garden year round by organising events such as “bring a blanket to a film”, Christmas fairs and farmer style markets.
The decision to extend Heaven Scent follows the success of Heavens Above, a unique catering and events space with four distinct rooms entered from a SMEG fridge door and winding black and white staircase which opened in 2015. This new venture helped us to win the Star Awards “Excellence in Business Innovation” award in 2015, and continues to grow and thrive.
The Secret Garden is testament to our vision and passion to continuously renew and reinvent ourselves, and to bring a sense of city life to the countryside – and make it work.
