This September will see the launch of ‘The Magnificent 7’, a series of cocktail masterclasses hosted at Anthony Demetre’s Michelin-starred, Wild Honey. The first class will be held on the 5th September, with more to follow every Monday evening at the restaurant’s intimate seven-seat counter.
Wild Honey’s resident cocktail expert, Chris Cavaille, will host each masterclass, with every month celebrating a different spirit. The bespoke evenings will take guests through the history of the drink, from a tale or two on the Negroni to anecdotes on Mescal, all accompanied with a trio of tastings. Chris will then teach the art of cocktail-making, with the opportunity for the lucky 7 to go-behind the counter and hone their skills on the cocktail shaker. Once cocktails are shaken and stirred, Chef Proprietor Anthony Demetre will create accompanying snacks to compliment the evening’s drinks
Starting the series in September will be Gin, featuring Brighton Gin distilled by the English seaside paired with a Squid and mackerel slider with cucumber ketchup. In October, ‘The Magnificent 7’ will swap cowboy hats for sombreros with Mescal and Brisket tacos, before exploring the history of the Negroni in November with Parma ham and Arancini. The cocktail sessions will continue into December, where each week will reveal the secrets of Sake with lacquered eel and Szechuan pepper, before toasting the New Year with Australian Whiskey in January, hailed as the world’s best. Chris will concoct a range of cocktails for guests to discern this for themselves, accompanied by Anthony’s Quail Scotch eggs.
‘Sometimes Monday evenings require a well-mixed drink– these masterclasses will give guests the chance to unwind after the first day back in the office and take home the expertise to stir down their own tipple’ says Chris. ‘With only 7 seats a night it’ll be an intimate evening of accomplished drinks, comfort food and relaxed company.’ adds Anthony.
