The Good Food Guide Commends The Bingham

By James Russell: The Good Food Guide Commends The Bingham

August 3, 2016

The Good Food Guide Local Restaurant of the Year Awards were announced last week and Richmond’s riverside destination restaurant, bar and boutique hotel, the Bingham, was shortlisted in the London category and highly commended. Talented Head Chef Andrew Cole creates brilliant flavours in a fresh and modern British style.

The Bingham is an independent restaurant, known for their loyal, local following in and around Richmond. Andrew brings a well-balanced, seasonal and holistic focus to the menu with his dishes concentrating on natural flavours, sustainability and locally sourced produce to create an ever-evolving offering. On Sundays there is a roast with a range of delicious traditional dishes, the perfect pit stop after a long ramble in Richmond Park. The restaurant offers panoramic views of the river Thames with French doors opening out onto a balcony.

Despite several novelty restaurants popping up all over London, The Good Food Guide (GFG), which is owned by Waitrose, has said they were looking for establishments, without “pretensions or gimmicks”.

The annual reader-nominated awards recognise the best neighbourhood eateries up and down the country. And to mark their tenth year, they have been renamed ‘Local’ Restaurant of the Year*’ to encourage diners to look much closer to home and champion the unsung restaurants right on their doorstep. The GFG also only looked for new winners this year, with the hope that smaller, lesser known establishments would be discovered.

The Bingham, a beautifully restored Georgian townhouse originally built in 1821, is situated on the banks of the river Thames in the heart of Richmond making it the perfect place for those wishing to enjoy a gastronomic meal in the restaurant, creative cocktails and seasonal small plates in the bar or a romantic retreat in one its sumptuous rooms with treatments, therapies and yoga/pilates from its little sister, bhuti the newly built eco wellbeing escape.

‘Richmond’s riverside dining and drinking destination, a slice of the countryside in London offering unrivalled service for special occasions and every day outings.’
