Dean Gambles & Co have secured impressive new premises for Macellaio RC, one of London’s most exciting restaurant brands. Dean Gambles have been working with Macellaio founder Roberto Costa and his team since 2014 to find the perfect property in central London.
The space had to be special to match Macellaio’s unique combination of sophistication, quality and drama, currently dazzling bloggers, critics and customers with their exclusive north Italian cuisine in South Kensington and Exmouth Market.
After targeting a variety of locations and putting in a number of bids, Dean Gambles located the Union Street railway arches in Southwark. The 1200 sq ft brick arches, set back from the street, soar to 6m at their apex – an appropriately theatrical setting for the restaurant that will feature a projecting stage to present the choicest cuts of the day. The setting is the perfect union of high end restaurant and cool urban edge, as sharp as one of Roberto’s knives.
The restaurant is situated a short walk from Southwark and Borough Underground stations in a location that is fast becoming a magnet for culture and food lovers, with the Old and Young Vic theatres at one end of Union Street and Borough Market a stone’s throw from the other. Gordon Ramsay’s Union Street Café is just a block away, while Tate Modern and the National Theatre within easy walking distance. Finally, the Union Street Theatre is relocating to the adjacent arches.
This highly successful outcome was helped by Dean Gambles & Co’s previous experience of working with Network Rail to secure a railway arch for Robin Gill’s Paradise Garage in Bethnal Green, a transaction that helped transform a run-down site into a popular and sophisticated eating and drinking destination.
Dean Gambles are as passionate about property as Macellaio are about their steaks and tuna. Their track record that makes them the go-to business for restaurants looking to establish themselves or expand into the ultra competitive London market.
Other recent Dean Gambles successes include securing a Grade 2 listed church in the shadow of the Shard for a 2 Star Michelin restaurant owner, and within the last 12 months they have completed 25 deals leading to highly anticipated launches from Coya and Ceru, plus new openings from Luke Thomas and Good Food Society. They secured 6 of Jason Atherton’s 14 restaurants, all within Central London’s Zone 1, and acted for Mark Hix with the sale of his Devonshire Square restaurant.
Currently Dean Gambles have a number of pioneering new projects in the pipeline, showcasing their unique talent for finding the right premises for their clients in central London, one of the fastest moving and most challenging markets anywhere in the world.
