Vulcan Bomber flies into the events market

By James Russell: Vulcan Bomber flies into the events market

July 22, 2016

An iconic masterpiece of British aviation is now the backdrop for a unique events centre in the heart of Yorkshire.

The Vulcan Conference and Exhibition Centre in Hangar 3 at Doncaster Sheffield Airport is home to Vulcan XH558 – one of the world’s most inspiring aircraft, which up until late 2015 was the last flying example of the Cold War’s famous V-force.

The classic bomber is now the centre piece of a breath-taking conferencing and exhibition space, ideal for awards ceremonies, conferences, product launches, exhibitions, parties, corporate functions, weddings, presentations and meetings.

The centre has a full range of event facilities including the modernised World War II hangar, where Vulcan operated from during much of the Cold War, and where XH558 is now based today.

Capable of holding up to 1,000 people banquet style, events held in the hangar take place beneath and around Vulcan XH558, meaning guests can look up under the aircraft’s giant delta wings, peer up the crew ladder into the cockpit and stand or be seated on the most prestigious tables – beneath the open bomb bay doors.

As well as the hangar, the centre is also home to a range of meeting rooms overlooking the Vulcan Bomber, which hold 12 to 50 people.

Lisa Findlay, operations manager for the Vulcan Conference and Exhibition Centre, said: “We are thrilled to launch this incredible new venue to the conference and exhibition market. It is truly much more than just a venue, it is a unique experience too.

“The Vulcan is a British engineering treasure and a much loved piece of aviation history which we are incredibly proud to have here in Yorkshire. Its home in Hangar 3, here at the Vulcan Conference and Exhibition Centre, provides the ideal space to host a wide range of events, and it really does have the wow factor offering a magical and unforgettable experience to everyone who comes to visit.”
