TLYD Launches Notting Hill Cocktail Tea Party

By James Russell: TLYD Launches Notting Hill Cocktail Tea Party

July 6, 2016

This summer the pop-up that won’t close its doors is launching its very first cocktail tea party in the heart of Notting Hill. London’s most loved flatmates at The Little Yellow Door will be throwing their yellow door open on Saturday afternoons to host, a Notting Hill Cocktail Tea Party. Expect alcohol infused pots of tea, finger sandwiches and a variety of traditionally British board games to choose from.

Every Saturday afternoon guests can venture off Portobello market, down the road from The Bookshop into a real flat, with a yellow door rather than blue, in the heart of Notting Hill and experience very British afternoon tea affair, TLYD style. Guests will be welcomed through the door by a bohemian host, before sipping on alcoholic teapots which include Tea with Mussolini, a Bacardi Blanca rum infused chamomile tea with pomegranate and blueberries, Bugsy Malone, a vodka teapot infused with strawberries and cream, ginger and pineapple or 50 Shades of Grey a gin and Earl Grey teapot with ginger, lemon and lychee. But if bubbles are more your thing, swap any spirit for champagne instead.

From 3 -7 pm guests can enjoy a tipple or two, while tucking into a selection of finger sandwiches and cakes including smoked salmon with cream cheese, salted cucumber and dill or steak with caramelized onions, rocket and truffle before finishing with Chocolate brownies with malt cream and of course traditional scones with clotted cream and jam.

Once again this summer TLYD will be launching their Indoor Garden, this year in partnership with Bombay Gin. A secret summer escape, a little out of the ordinary, the indoor garden is the perfect way for Londoners to enjoy the English summer, without getting sunburnt, or rained on for that matter. The garden like no other, created in a non-existing outdoor space will include Bombay cocktails served in watering cans, a tree house and aquariums.

Since the quirky pop-up bar, based on a fictional flatshare, opened its Little Yellow Door in October 2014, it has rapidly become a West London institution, and the infamous house parties have seen queues lining up far down Notting Hill Gate. Last year they created their very own indoor garden and their popular Friday dinners tends to get booked up weeks in advance. It’s the only London venue where bookings can be made via WhatsApp, and it’s true what they say: “Visiting The Little Yellow Door, you may arrive with three friends and leave with ten…”
