Mitchells & Butlers is celebrating after receiving its inaugural Good Egg Award.
Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) presented the award in recognition of the Company’s commitment to the welfare of laying hens, by sourcing cage-free eggs.
Compassion’s Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards celebrate the commitment of leading food businesses to improve animal welfare standards. The higher welfare policies and practices of this year’s award winners are set to benefit over 85 million animals each year.
The Good Egg Award specifically recognises the company’s commitment to the use of free range shell eggs across the whole business by 2017. Indeed, the majority of the M&B estate are already using free range shell eggs, with just a small number of Orchid conversions being added over the coming months.
Other food service recipients this year included McDonalds, Pret, Five Guys and the Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
