Is this the Most Exclusive Kids’ Club in the World?

By James Russell: Is this the Most Exclusive Kids’ Club in the World?

July 4, 2016

At Velaa Private Island even the littlest guests’ experience surpasses sheer and utter thoughtful luxury.  From the moment they are met at the jetty they are handed a personal invitation to the kids’ club, their sitter remains the same throughout their holiday, freshly prepared food is on offer daily and there is even a kids’ water park especially created by the owner’s daughter. This is no ordinary kids club, this is Velaa Private Island’s Lha Velaa Kids Club.

Velaa considers that its stunning surroundings, pure privacy and absolute magic is ideal for all ages; and as such, they have created an innovative concept of child enjoyment that includes thoughtful, tailor made, authentic and local experiences, along with the special attention that a guest of one of the world’s most exclusive hotels might expect.  From the moment the younger guest arrives he or she will be greeted by a staff member with a gift, along with a list of activities and adventures available for them to choose from. The same caregiver will be with them from arrival until the day of departure, providing continuity and consistency of care.  There is the largest water park in the Maldives, a climbing wall, special kids’ menus which includes mocktails and smoothies, activities such as sand colouring, learning the Dhivehi language, kids’ yoga, Koraa (Maldivian hopscotch), learning about local sea life with a marine biologist, mask making and a host of other incredible offerings.

Naturally, the setting is one that will appeal to all ages. Tucked away within the collection of islands that form the Noonu Atoll, Velaa Private Island was recently named one of the world’s top five hotels. Elegantly positioned to overlook enchanting vistas of a cerulean ocean it was awarded both ‘Best Resort’ and ‘Best New Resort in the Maldives’. Part of this acclaim came from the way that they have considerately cared for the smallest of guests. Remarkably, it was Velaa Private Island’s owner’s daughter who, as a child, co-designed the concept of the luxury property’s kids’ club herself – ensuring it would be a paradise her peers.

The Lha Velaa Kids Club (Baby Turtle) is a place of wonder for those aged 4-12years old. At the club, little guests can enjoy exciting activities such as Maldivian baseball, a talent show and coral painting.  Afterwards, the family can get together and enjoy some water sports with a banana boat ride or an afternoon family sail.   Also fun for the parents and children to be had together, parents and children are invited to make pizza together in the resort’s kitchen.

The Family Package for toddlers and babies – those 4-years and younger, includes a nanny for the whole day. While a highly professional and capable employee takes care of the children the parents can enjoy a relaxing day at the resort’s Exclusive Spa by Clarins or perhaps sample the Maldives’ only Snow Room following a hot sauna, a round of golf, tennis or squash at the state of the art facilities and award winning golf course.

Velaa Private Island’s package for families with teenagers has all the essentials to ensure that even the potentially trickiest of family members will be entertained.  For teens, they will enjoy activities such as underwater SeaBob scooters, diving excursions, PADI certification courses or snorkelling through spellbinding marine vistas. Windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, and kite surfing as well as sunset cruises, fishing, dolphin watching and private boat excursions can be arranged either aboard a luxury Prestige yacht or traditional ‘Bahtheli’ boat.

But of all the luxuries that Velaa has to offer, it is privacy is perhaps its greatest asset – the resort is designed for a maximum of 142 guests at one time with a staff to guest ratio of 4:1.  This ensures that you and your family will find the quiet and space that it needs to reconnect, share special moments and create memories of togetherness sure to be savoured for a lifetime.
