By James Russell: Independent British distillery, East London Liquor Company launches exciting new restaurant

June 15, 2016

Making mile end a destination

After launching in July 2014, East London Liquor Company has announced its latest expansion with plans of adding in a third whisky still, increasing their warehouse space to meet consumer demands and opening a restaurant at it’s Bow Wharf location, which already hosts a distillery, bar and bottle shop.

Already well-‐known across the capital thanks to its innovative production of local spirits, East London Liquor Company is determined to create a more well-‐rounded experience for visitors, restoring Mile End to its former glory as a celebrated destination for spirits production and enjoyment, last seen in the area with the Lea Valley Distillery over 100 years ago.

Expanding the offering

Sitting near Regent’s Canal and on the corner of the East

End’s Victoria park, independent British distillery East London Liquor Company is fast becoming a destination for those who love locally produced, honestly priced spirits with its laid-‐back atmosphere and unparalleled drink offering.

Headed up by William Dennard, former chef at White Rabbit and Rebel Dining Society, the distillery’s new restaurant will have an Italian food emphasis, with a pizza oven and array of seasonal sharing plates. Complementing the offering, the menu comprises of several sections of drinks including: amaro, fernet, vermouth, wine, cocktails and beer. A cocktail list of five signature serves will also be available, showcasing East London Liquor Company’s award-‐winning range of spirits.

Design

Inspired by the rich-‐spirited history of the surrounding area, the restaurant designed by world-‐renowned British designer, Michael Sodeau, features a number of impressive design elements.

Mirroring East London Liquor Company’s destination bar next door, the restaurant’s interior will have exposed ceilings, stripped-‐back brick walls and elements of copper that reflect the distillery’s shimmering stills, as well as boasting Carrara marble table and bar-‐tops from Italy, beautiful custom lighting from Rubn in Sweden and custom-‐made encaustic tiles from Turkey.

Designer Michael Sodeau comments, “I’m delighted to be working with East London Liquor Company to help grow their pioneering British distillery in Bow Wharf. Every detail of the restaurant has been carefully curated and selected to reflect the incredible history of spirits production once enjoyed in Mile End. We’re excited for the space to become a design destination in its own right”.

East London liquor company

Located in the heart of the Capital’s old spirits industry, East London Liquor Company is an independent British distillery producing exceptional and innovative spirits. Originally a glue factory in Bow Wharf, East London Liquor Company found its home in the disused industrial space and repurposed the venue to create a custom-‐built distillery that produces and imports a range of small-‐batch spirits. The offering includes gins, vodka, rum and whisky; reviving and refreshing spirit production using traditional techniques to the historic distilling area. East London Liquor Company will continue to push the boundaries of local distilling as it grows.
