Ambrette combines British and Indian classics for new seven-day brunch menu

By James Russell: Ambrette combines British and Indian classics for new seven-day brunch menu

June 13, 2016

The Ambrette has launched a new brunch menu, combining British breakfast classics with famous Indian-inspired morning and lunchtime dishes at its restaurants in Canterbury, Margate and Rye.

From July 1st, diners will be able to enjoy the award-winning culinary talents of head chef Dev Biswal for their first meal of the day, as new, extended opening hours mean the three restaurants are now open from 11am, seven days a week.

Customers can choose from a selection of hearty meals, lighter bites, salads, juices and cocktails – created using fresh, quality ingredients sourced locally from Kent and Sussex wherever possible.

Dev Biswal, owner of The Ambrette, said: “It’s often said that breakfast’s the most important meal of the day, but for me nothing beats a great brunch. Whether it’s the time spent enjoying good company or simply enjoying good food; the great British brunch has become an institution.

“A visit to The Ambrette is about more than just fine food, it’s a full, sensory experience, inspired by a truly global cuisine. From the taste of the homemade sausages and the smell of the home-cured bacon to the textures of our mini dosas – every dish offers something different.

“I’ve created a menu that includes Indian dishes such as authentic street food, delicious hot green salads and stews and lassis. But of course, no brunch menu would be complete without the full English – I’ve created my own, unique take on this popular dish.”

The brunch menu includes the Royal English Breakfast, which comes with homemade baked beans and a South Indian vegetarian breakfast of dosas, steamed rice cakes, lentil dumplings, potato fritters and sambha.

Hot green salads with stew or street pav bhaji’s are on offer, alongside cumin-spiced avocado on toast with poached eggs or Mumbai-style masala omelette – all accompanied by freshly pressed juices, cocktails or mocktails.
